Summary:
|
The Cambrian School District is a participating member of the Santa Clara County Office of Education Special Education Local Planning Agency (SELPA) III. On July 1, 2024, the five individual SELPA (I, II, III, IV, and VII) areas have merged into one large group, now called Santa Clara North West Special Education Local Plan Area.
The California Education Code Article 7, Sections 56190–56194, mandates the creation of Community Advisory Committees (CACs) to increase community involvement in the Special Education Local Plan Area. CACs serve in an advisory capacity in the development and review of the SELPA Local Plan, annual priorities, parent training and education, and other special education-related activities.
The CAC holds periodic meetings during the year and requires parent representatives to be approved by the Cambrian School District Board of Trustees.
Cambrian has three members: One employee and two parents
○ Maggie Spehar, Director
○ Tina Chang, Parent of a 3rd grader in a Special Day Class program
○ Kristen Lewis, Parent of a 1st grader with related services
