Summary:

As part of Measure R modernizations projects, Sartorette Elementary School planned for the addition of a preschool area within the campus. A preschool area can be developed at the relocatable classrooms on the north side of the campus Rooms 17-20.
At the June 6, 2024 Governing Board Meeting, the Board awarded the construction/modernization trade contracts to be completed at Sartorette Elementary School. Part of the bids was Bid Package E, Fencing. At that time, staff recommended rejecting the fencing bid of $235,000.
Staff and the Architect worked to review and adjust the fencing bid. The areas with decorative tubular steel fencing were replaced with chain link fencing. Since the cost estimate was under $200,000, informal bids were requested from the District's pre-approved fencing contractors.
There was only one bidder from Buildcorp, Inc. in the amount of $97,500. This bid is in-line with what was expected. Staff authorized Buildcorp, Inc., who is already the general contractor (Bid Package A) on the project, to start the fencing work in order to meet the timeline of having the classrooms and site ready prior to the first day of school.
